Come and meet us! We’ll be demoing our latest DIWire model at the Motorola/Spark CNC pavilion. http://blog.makezine.com/2013/05/14/the-inside-angle-on-diwire/
Marco gives a talk at Betascape about the future of 3D printing.

Yes, you can try this at home. Check out our detailed, step-by-step guide for putting the DIWire together.
This is a quick video on how to assemble the DIWire. The parts list (BOM - Bill of Materials), 3D Files and code are all available on the Google code site:
code.google.com/p/diwire
A quick note - this is a alpha prototype. There are many ways to improve it. For instance, the wire straightener was good enough for now, but if you google wire straightener, you’ll see how its usually done. Also, the motors we “spec’ed” are the ones we found in a bin in our shop. They are pricey because they are real accurate, but not so powerful. Right now, with these motors can only bend 1/8” aluminum rod, and the 3D printed parts also would need to get stronger in order to bend more substantial material. So, if you make one and improve upon it, let us know, we’ll post your improvements for everyone else to see.
Enjoy!
